CimaVax EGF Vaccine for patients diagnosed with lung cancer non small cell
The objectives of the CIMAVAX EGF therapeutic vaccine are:
1. Extend the patient's life and improve their quality. (The vaccine is not
curative. The vaccine enhances the effect of chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy
2. Convert this cancer illness in a controlled chronic inflammatory disease
None reported serious side effects so far
CimaVax EGF vaccine is indicated for patients diagnosed with lung cancer non
small cell cytological confirmation and / or histological stage IIIB or IV, whohave completed the first line treatment of chemotherapy or chemotherapy andradiotherapy.
The patient has to stop treatment with chemotherapy. The vaccine is
complementary, not substitute for specific cancer treatments.
Four weeks after completing the first treatment cycle and before the eighth
week, should be assessed objective response to treatment with computerized
axial tomography studies and / or magnetic resonance imaging and patient
classified as stable disease, partial or total remission.
From a functional point of view should be hematological parameters within
normal limits and a life expectancy of at least 3 months and carries no brain
metastases.
At the end of treatment, the patient must submit a summary of your medical
records with objective response to treatment (if the tumor increased in size,
if the tumor size remained the same, or if decreased size), date of completionof treatment.
The patients in disease progression are not an adequate response to treatment.
Summary of medical documents with the requested information must be made by thepatient's attending physician on the same date and be followed by the expressrequest of the vaccine treatment.
The vaccine treatment is performed in two phases, the first 5 days of life
takes place in Cuba and the second phase in the country of residence of the
patient, which must acquire appropriate immunizations in Cuba, to conclude a
month of treatment.
At the end of treatment, the patient should be contrasted computed tomography,
chest radiography, anterior, posterior and lateral abdominal ultrasonography todefine therapeutic continuit
