[诗歌]给我的小鱼

TO MY LITTLE FISH
　　
　　On New Year's Eve
　　I sat before a picture box
　　Eagerly, anxiously and dreamingly
　　Waiting for something to come out
　　
　　"Are you waiting for Hope?"
　　A gentle voice asked.
　　"Nope"
　　"Are you waiting for the Ring"?
　　"Perhaps"
　　"The Ring is a great Hope if..."
　　"If?!"
　　
　　A tiny fish loomed large
　　In a silvery-bluish ocean
　　All in tears
　　
　　"Don't cry, dear mermaid
　　It's no use crying over spilt milk
　　For what is done cannot be undone
　　It's no use crying in a sea
　　For water is more bitter than your tears"
　　
　　"How can you tell
　　I'm crying out of bitterness
　　Big palooka ?"
　　
　　"Then let me share your happiness
　　Little angel..."
　　
　　"How can you tell
　　I am happy
　　Since you are not a fish"?
　　
　　I suddenly turned into a big fish
　　Swimming beside her in the strange sea
　　
　　"I come to you for taking me to Land
　　How could you yourself jump into sea ?"
　　
　　"Why ! How can you live on land since..."
　　
　　"I can, I can
　　I can live on table of man
　　In a delicate container--
　　Please others as much as I can"
　　
　　By now I knew she was the
　　Most delicate fish I'd ever seen
　　Hence I loved her all the more
　　
　　"But your freedom will be gone..."
　　
　　"Freedom, freedom, freedom and all
　　On my part, safety weighs more
　　Hunted by so many foes everyday
　　Danger is always knocking at my door
　　Since ugly duckling can become swan
　　Surely small fish can grow into whale
　　By the time I become whale
　　Whales' mouths will be greater than dale"
　　
　　"You are wrong, my little sister
　　They are too great to grow any longer
　　When they are hunting small fish
　　They shrink, shrink and shrink
　　Till at last they go back to dust
　　Hunted by your brother and sister
　　So while you are hunted
　　You are hunting yourself
　　Hunting and being hunted
　　That is the Way of the World"
　　
　　"Nope, Nope
　　Pleasing and being pleased
　　This is the Way of the World"
　　
　　With that she flew into air
　　Dropping some water or tear
　　Right on my left Ear ...
　　
　　My Ear rang like a bell of Church
　　And with a start opened my eyes
　　The Bell was ringing madly in the Box
　　
　　Was it ringing for the old year
　　Or for the New baby of Old Time
　　Or the flight of the fish in my dream ?
　　
　　All the same
　　All the same
　　That was the End and beginning
　　Of my New Year's Old Dream
