“China is a sleeping giant. Let her sleep, for when she wakes she will move the world.” ― Napoléon Bonaparte
The sad part is this Dragon is like a Chameleon which changes color constantly.
In other words: The Chinese who come back home after a six months cannot find way to their own home.
I had to pull out old pictures which were taken six months before the following visit to make sure I am at a right place.
Please read the history: The Chinese methods of torture are legendary, they do not seem very brutal on the face value. However these are very slow and agonizing punishment.
Please do not be fooled with their gentle and non confrontational methods: New war Chinese style, through flick of a few buttons, which will change the course of cargo ships. Advanced payment or Cash on delivery or the ships diverted back Shanghai ports. ( I am 100 percent sure this time payment method will not be barter with “ OPIUM”). And signing off HK and Macau back per sure.
This country is now geared from sewing needle to jumbo jets and in between. And the next stage may be going to Mars, and setting first Chinese restaurant, specializing in Chongqing hot pot. And their giant Pandas are restless to see Mars too.
They are collecting their genius sons/daughter to come home for nothing.
On a foot note:
My Chinese friend told me: China and the Chinese kept these old Colonial buildings in Shanghai’s most prestigious area, the pride of China, the Bund, to remind the coming generations: How to be strong and proud. If not there could another Mongol Army/ the British/ the West,or the French Concession,.
Their new generation learned from it, and that is what China of modern time is all about: Sweet Revenge is Success.

Who would they be taking revenge on exactly?
(Pic: French troops marching through the French Concession, an area now the most desired real estate in Shanghai and home to some of China’s top elites)
When you state “west” that's a fairly broad term which encompasses a lot of countries and people, many of which had no involvement.
It needs to be more clearly defined. And do correct me If I get this wrong.
So, the first cab of the rank should be the Manchus? They deserve a whooping for invading and in the end leading China to become such a failed state.
Second, the British, well they are perhaps close to the no 1 targets. Drug peddling imperialists, that invaded and occupied, stole and humiliated the Chinese.
Third, the French, for supporting the British, and screwing Sino-Vietnam relations, and for looting alongside the British.
Fourth Germany, a small role but a savage one.
Fifth, The Japanese, of course, the #1 target, for obvious reasons.
Sixth, Russia, land stealing, occupation, supporting the British, but, some argue that several actions of the Russians whilst working to achieve their own agenda, actually helped China.
